The California DanceArts Intensive provides new opportunities, growth and development for students passionate about dance, who are willing to have new creative experiences and who wish to rapidly improve their skills. Our Summer Intensive program provides new challenges and opportunity for increasing technical and performance ability. California DanceArts provides one of the few intensive studies of this kind and caliber for dancers ages 12- 22 (see our group divisions) and is our most popular summer program. This program is not to be missed by young dancers with dreams and purpose. It is an equally important program for the potentially career focused dancer. Whether you are in need of extra attention to get to the next level in your training, interested in pursuing a career or enhancing your career, our encouraging faculty of renowned teachers specialize in helping you gain technical improvement and performance artistry.

Featuring our summer performance for those that choose to participate in all four weeks of the Summer Dance Intensive. Our instructors and guests will be creating new choreography for the program.  Additional opportunities may be available with Aerin Holt, director and choreographer of our Company, California Contemporary Ballet. 

Offering:
Featuring the curriculum and methods which have established California DanceArts as a premier academy of dancing, our expert instructors from our faculty provide dancers with the highest caliber training, trouble-shooting and skills needed to achieve their dreams. Each student will receive personalized attention. By restricting our enrollment and dividing students into groups we ensure that students understand the concepts and instructions that are given. Curriculum is based on a solid foundation of Classical & Contemporary Ballet with specific instruction (at appropriate level and division) in Turns, Jumps, Pointe, Variations, Pas de duex and supplementary training in Conditioning and MPT (Placement Technique). See description of our Contemporary Ballet Program.  Also offering Contemporary and Modern Dance, Dance Essentials for picking up choreography faster, improvisation, musicality and performance skills. You may wish to experience a rare treat by learning Aerial Ballet, where you learn to fly and dance in the air with silk scarves! Participating students will be exposed to a repertoire original choreography by Aerin Holt, the Director of California DanceArts and California Contemporary Ballet. Learn new works by guest choreographers to be performed at the end of the intensive. An additional Choreography Workshop for dancers is offered for those who wish to create their own or dance the choreography of fellow students.

California DanceArts Summer Intensive 2019
Maximum 4 week session:  July 1-July 31, 2019  Monday – Friday
(Three week minimum for enrollment. Program will be closed on July 4th, 5th).

Division I
A comprehensive study of Classic and Contemporary Ballet for
dancers at the Intermediate level who wish have new creative experiences and rapidly advance their skills.

Division II
A comprehensive study of Classic and Contemporary Ballet for
dedicated dancers, entering or working at high intermediate to advanced levels and career dancers.

Program Performance in Los Angeles: Wednesday, July 31 at 5:30pm
(Students wishing to perform must attend the Maximum 4 week session or the final 3 weeks of July).

Qualifications & Auditions: Students must audition for program placement by attending an audition class. Students from California DanceArts level 2-3+ may enroll without audition. We accept dancers based on a common level of ability. Most students at Division I are age 11+ and have already had several years of ballet training. Students in Division I should nearing Pointe training or en Pointe. Dancers placed in Division II are more mature dancers, have experience en Pointe, Variations, Partnering and or may be entering advanced contemporary training. Dancers may be considering a career or dancing professionally. Student younger or older than the recommended age my audition when at appropriate training level. Please note that this is a physically demanding program and student must be able to work intensively 4-6 hours a day (with breaks) of classes, choreography and rehearsals.

Please RSVP for a place in our class. Space in class is limited. $20 Cash audition fee.

During the audition your qualifications for acceptance will be determined. All those wishing to participate must audition in person or by sending Photo/ Video. Dancers who have attended our intensive program in the past or are current students at California DanceArts gain first placement when enrolled by March 16.

Ladies please wear proper ballet attire, hair up and off face, technique slippers. Bring Pointe shoes (as appropriate). Men please wear clean white shirt, dance pants or tights, ballet slippers.

Photo/Video Submission accepted from distant students or students with sufficient circumstances prohibiting attendance in person. Contact us now for submission reservations.

Limited selection to the program on first come basis. Accommodations for out of town students must be reserved as soon as possible so we appreciate early submissions. Receive a 10% discount for early registration.

Please submit dance photo or DVD with short list of skills and training.
DVD / Video: 10 minutes (maximum) showing work at barre and center.
Entire video should be performed en Pointe (as appropriate).

Space in our intensive programs are filled on a first-come basis. Invited dancers must confirm their acceptance and secure their space by completing and returning their application forms with the required deposits.

The deadline to register with deposit for our summer intensive programs is April 13th, 2019 (while spaces in the program last). Registration fee and program deposit is required. The balance of tuition amount is due by May 18, 2019.

Special discounts when you enroll before March 16, 2019
Dancers who attend our audition class, whom are accepted into our program and register by our early registration date qualify for a 10% tuition discount. All students must enroll with registration fee and deposit on or before the early registration date to receive discount. Ask about our professional discount for working dancers.
